>Ohhh... I'd say one in a million? So no more than a few thousands... Then, of those few thousand. What percentage wisely decides it's "...brown-trousers-time" and backs out. How many abort on the way there? How many abort before the capsule fires to the surface? How many lose their sanity once the realization of the Martian environment sets in. I'm betting that medical testing would also include exhaustive psychological testing and profiling, but based on what? How can you predict human behaivor in such a situation, other than to assume at least a 50% drop-out/lose-their-mind/never-show-up factor.
Interesting stuff though! I'd have to admire someone able to do something like that and hold their marbles together. It reminds me of the Arthur C. Clarke novel "Songs of a Distant Earth" (which is a great read!) but then the earth was ending in that novel and everyone WANTED to go ;) Thanks for the link to the article! ~J -------------------------------------------------- The Gundam Mailing List MK-II [email protected] Archives: http://www.gundam.com/gml Help: Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with this in the BODY: help list
