Looks nice! Did you dim the lights on purpose or is it my PC's settings?

For the finished product, I used the best light bulb available.... the 1,000,000W one up in the sky.

For the indoor (work desk) pic, I've this SpectraLite Halogen. The bad thing is I have it on a desk lamp with movable arms clamped onto the desk. I cannot move it far enough, and that's why my in progress pics are always too high in contrast. Very handy when you're building your kit and need the extra light (it got a magnifying glass too!).

It looks fine to me. The key to taking pictures of models is not to
use the flash. In fact, in my opinion the tiny flash bulb in most
portable cameras are all worthless; it's always much better to turn on
the lights, and it's best to use natural light.

Speaking of background, what did you use as a backdrop?

Nice huh? :-)

Look at the Rick Dom pic; and you'll see the greenish background is my wall's paint color. The ground is actually the seat of a chair from IKEA. It's translucent so it soft-blended to the wall when out of focus.
