The Zudah looks ok if they'd kill all the cruddy designs all over it's body.

Except for mono eyes, I agree with you. They add too much crap to otherwise decent to excellent designs. I like mono eyes but they're just ok for bad guys, IMO. On the other hand, mono eyes could work on good guy mecha because these eyes cause a sense of menace and impending doom.

The Acguy sorta reminds me of an one eyed robot teddy bear. Just add sensor "ears" to it's head and voila! robo monster teddy bear is born!

What is "SF91"? I know "F91". Is that a typo or am I confused and brain dead? ;)

I like the Turn A overall. I just still find it somewhat weird. What do you think of the Turn X? Also, Personally, I think the Turn X looks far more MEAN! then evil. I like the X because it's simple and clean looking. The X's pilot has a stupid and queer look, so I'd hijack the X and paint it red and maybe blue with a bit of white as well. And stomp on it's pilot! ;)

I have always thought it was kind of funny how much my tastes in MS designs
have shifted. When I first got into Gundam I thought the SF91 Gundams were
the best. I loved the busy look. I thought the Monoeyes were ugly. I
thought that the Acguy was particularly ugly. Over time I changed. Now I
like the Monoeyes the best, with the Acguy in particular. Now I actually
dislike the busier modern Gundam designs. In the same way at first I didn't
like the Turn A, but now I like it a lot. Part of that is my sentiment for
how it is used in the anime, but part of that is just a growing fondness for
the design in 3D form as seen in the models. I think the main reason for
this is that often these "ugly" designs are actual radical attempts at
something new. With the "modern" Gundams the latest design paradigm is the
addition of more and more "junk" onto a fairly basic design frame. With the
Turn A they radically altered the basic design frame. It isn't just how it
is animated, it is the freshness of the design that often times wins people
over.
