Actually, sadly they used none of the voices from the MSG dub. The
reason why was something about union problems. Char and Amuro
sounded very similar to the voices from the MSG and CCA dubs. Though,
Bright just didn't sound the same. I really liked the other voice over
the
one used in Zeta. Kai, Hayato, and Frau didn't seem to sound the
Are you sure about that? Bright's voice seemed to have the
same voice and tone as before. If it isn't the same actor, he did a
hell of a job emulating the previous actor. Even my father was
pleased that they seemed to use the same actors as before.
Yes, they were different. MS Gundam and CCA were dubbed in Vancouver
through Ocean's Westwood (Union) studio. Zeta was dubbed in Calgary through
Ocean's Blue Water (Non-Union) studio. The fact that the voices were gonna
be different and we wouldn't get to hear the very good Vancouver actors in
Zeta made me feel like I was gonna puke prior to the release... then I
watched it and found the dub to be outstanding :P Nearly every character
was handled perfectly if you ask me. I particularly enjoyed the fact that
they made quite an effort to make Char and Amuro's voices sound as similar
as possible to the original ones. Bright's didn't sound as similar to me
although he still had a very good actor. Anyway, as proof, here's the
actual credits:
Character MS Gundam Zeta
Amuro Brad Swaille Matt Erickson
Char Michael Kopsa Tom Edwards
Bright Chris Kalhoon Dave Kelly
