Call me a sucker or anything else you want, but I have started buying them on R-1 DVD. I know the basics of how it'll go from various discussions and other sources even thought I've never seen the whole thing. However, I'm still interested enough to try and see it all for myself and go "official" with what anime I get.

I can see why Bandai didn't license the Destiny "Special Editions" just yet, I've seen more sets of the SEED ones on the shelves at stores than I can count and they seem to be going nowhere still. I am curious if anyone knows if they'll use the original final episode of the TV series on the DVDs or if they'll use the "Final Plus" extended remake of it that was broadcast afterwards and came out much better. If anyone knows anything - please sing out!

Yes, they are dual language with English subtitles.

As to the Special Editions, I wouldn't hold my breath. I saw the first
DESTINY SE, and while it certainly flows better than the SEED SEs, it's
still a bit rough in spots. Also, since it's from Athrun's perspective, you
get to see even less of Shinn than in the TV series. Might as well just
stick to the TV series, especially since Bandai hasn't licensed the SE
versions.

I dunno why anyone would buy Destiny on DVD. Don't get me wrong
because I do like to buy stuff on DVD and not pirate it all the time.
I own pretty much every Gundam DVD on R1 and in my opinion pretty much
all the Gundam available on R1 is definitely worth buying excluding
maybe the SEED compilation movies (Special Editions) since those
didn't add really anything compared to the series. I watched Destiny
while it was airing on TV in Japan and after I was through I wish I
didn't waste a whole year. I think since there's gonna be a fourth
Destiny Special Edition that it's going to have at least a little
better ending than the series. I'm really hoping for this. No one has
made a compilation movie-type thing go over three movies in Gundam. If
this becomes nothing and just another way to make money then I will
not even buy those either.
