Ever since Wing & to a MUCH greater extent SEED came out, Gundam mecha have become too derivative for me. I'm not saying they're "bad" per se, they're just too derivative.

Being derivative isn't necessarily bad, it's just the way in how derivative designs are executed.

I do like many of Wing's & SEED's designs, I just dislike the designs with 8 zillion guns, spikes, fins, ETC.

While Gundam is fantasy, I like a moderate amount of practicality mixed in with tasteful flashiness.

You got me there :) But I also bought the hell out of Turn A merch. and shunned SEED products so I can't be that much of an influence.

BTW, my most recent Gundam purchase was a two-sided Haro/Zaku II cushion bought last week. It looks great on my green couch. 2006 was a pretty weak year for my Gundam collection though. I hardly bought anything.
