I can't speak for others, but as I mentioned my only exposure to it was the game.
*shudder*
I did skim through the episode summaries on the official site, and there didn't seem to be much in the way of parody. It seemed more like a silly, albeit straightforward story that was designed more or less to be accessible to people who hadn't had much exposure to Gundam. In contrast, the summaries for Super Deformed Gundam over at MAHQ seem to be about shows that, while yes they are sometimes silly, also rely on spoofing characters in the shows or specific events. So you've got the very first one opening with three Zakus attempting to infiltrate Side 7 followed by the punch line of the skit. Or an MS pilots as students show that has (as I remember) Lalah Sun's ghost wandering around.
I'm sure that there's a lot of unnecessary silliness in Super Deformed Gundam, but it seems more closely tied to the various Gundam series that preceeded it than Superior Defender. I'm sure that there were plenty of in-jokes in Superior Defender, but that doesn't necessarily constitute good parody.
