Sorry for the delay.

Wizard World Chicago was quite an event for the comic lover. For Gunpla,
not so much so. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of Gunpla (at least 4
booths has some stuff, all at decent prices) and HLJ was there.

HLJ had quite a selection of recent items, however, I got the impression
that OTAKUCON earlier in the month cleaned them out of the really good
stuff. There was some good items, like 3 or 4 GITS kits (sorry, don't
follow that series but I know Core is a fan), PG kits and the Yamato. What
was nice was that all kits were either at JSRP (for recent kits) or below.

Off the top of my head:

PG Strike Rouge $180
MG Zaku II ver. 2 $30
Fine Molds X-Wing $20
Fine Molds Millenium Falcon $180
Bandai 1/20 Scope Dog $40

I also saw other vendors with a Strike Freedom Gundam (Full Burst) for $85.

The nicest thing about it was that there was no shipping, no tax. The guy
from HLJ was willing to cut deals on the floor so I ended up getting my
Scope Dog for $35.

The bad part. Entrance prices to Wizard World was $28 for the day. Throw
in $11 parking and it makes the convention an expensive proposition. Also,
since I was flying out that afternoon, I could get some of the bigger kits
(not that my wife would be thrilled with a new $180 house guest).

So, if you live in the area one of these conventions are taking place and
you have a genuine interest in the convention topic, then it would probably
be worth your while to go. If you only want Gunpla, the value proposition
is a bit less, unless you plan on buying lots of merchandise. Layover on a
business trip, probably not worth it.

I should also point out that a few booths had some harder to find stuff. I
found one booth that had 5 Battle Scarred Gundams from G_Gundam for $5 each.
