TD Blanket takes mass resource and special environment (Jupiter?) to produce. Supposedly, if the GN Drive keep on emitting the red GN particles, eventually it will "break" the GN Drive (coming from the CB founder). 2) There was an internal break in CB, as they were split as to whether they should use the "fake" GN drives while the main CB group want only the "good" GN Drive to exist. There was a "revolution/revolt" around 80 years ago, the main manufacturing facilities were moved/destroyed, some of the other groups were killed, along with the "living CPUs". However, some data remains left behind. 3) However, TD blanket has a limit on how much it can filter, so when the GN Drive produced too much, it will start to go "Berserk" and release a lot of red GN particles. This can be used as a weapon, and when the MS is in this mode, it is called TRANSAM. Weapons and movement are powered several times in this mode. 4) Since the red GN particles is bad for the pilot, this mode cannot be used in normal operation. Only special weapons that require a lot of GN particles like GN ARMS can use it. The TRANSAM mode can only be unlocked by the living CPU directly control/controlled(?) by VEDA. I will let this be digested for a bit before putting in my thoughts, but unless somebody spend a lot of time to go through the spoilers, this seems to fit with one version of the spoilers/speculations out there, as Ribbons/Tieria would be the two living CPUs, and it would be Ribbons that will give Setsuna/Exia the unlock key to use TRANSAM mode (which happens to be the episode title for 22), as Tieria don't have direct access to VEDA anymore.
