I do not disagree with the idea that trade mark holders should be represented as part 
of the business community that they are.  However, it seems to me that they are in 
danger of being demonised here.  All businesses use trade marks (registered or 
unregistered): trade mark holders are not a subset of businesses with a strange 
agenda.  Most substantial businesses have encountered opportunists registering domain 
names on spec and then offering them to the business concerned at a huge premium.  

The problem is that in the current situation, whoever owns a particular domain name 
particularly a .com domain name has something that is increasingly valuable to a 
business with that name.  There may be many who could claim a reasonable connection 
with it globally, but only one person or business gets it. This problem must have a 
technical solution - it is after basically a technical problem caused by the way the 
internet works.
