No doubt I do, but public definitions will suffice:

1.  Accountability to the U.S. government during the development phase

2.  Accountability to the Internet community on an ongoing basis.  One 
needs to remember that the IANA-related functions are supported by a 
continuing agreement from the operations community.  As you well know, that 
community could choose to "go elsewhere" for its administrative 
functions.  If ICANN is sufficiently inappropriate in its actions, the 
Internet community privately or through a government-based collective, 
could impose an alternative organization.

One can be sadly distracted by requiring formalities to accountability, 
thereby losing sight of the practical realities which care not one whit 
what is written, but, rather what is done.
