Junta is the right term here, too. I lived in South America in the
'seventies and experienced national juntas at first hand. The
methods used are the same: pervert the laws, lie, and silence
opposition. They only succeed by fear, and eventually fall through
their own stupidity. Unfortunately, while they last they destroy
everything they get their hands on. It's worth fighting to stop them
from succeeding.
