So go to http://<tld>.nic. That takes you straigh there. 

ICANN chose the easy way out by doing it the way they did. For
example, see http://dns.vrx.net/sys/whois?af12-dom

Use ICANN's and you get a netsol banner because thats
what ICANN points to. Use the vrx url above and you get
a VRx banner. If they're taken the 20 minutes to write
theor own CGI they'd get an ICANN or no banner.
