I recently registered dnspolicy.com because of an idea I got from
trying to help some newcomers get up to date on the issues.

I've taken a very buggy copy of the slash engine, and after quite a
bit of work, and a couple all nighters, not to mention some much
appreciated help from a couple other webmasters who have developed
sites around the slash engine, and made a site that can be used to
post links to news articles, as well as feature articles written by
the participants in the process.

I don't want this to be a one sided thing. I've VERY serious about
thinking this is a good idea, and I've spelled some of the reasons for
that out on the my post one the front page of the site.

I'd like a diversity of views and opinions to be on the site, not just
those I agree with. I'd like it to be a place where visitors can see
all sides of the issues. The feedback forum, and op-ed opportunities
provide the means for this to happen.

I'd also like the site to become a resource for domain policy
information. One of the projects I have begun already, for example,
will be a ccTLD information area, where each ccTLD will be listed,
along with information on their registration policies and fees, and a
link to their registry website.

When this is done, I'd like to add other areas.

To make this site useful, I'd like to offer it up as a publishing
point for participants to publish their own articles on the events and
process that is going on now.

I would also be interested if anyone else would like to help with the
editorship, basically posting links and quick summaries of DNS Policy
related news articles, and approving submissions of articles and
article links from the sites visitors.

The good thing about the slash engine is that it includes a user
feedback and comment are for each posted topic/article, where a
visitor can maybe get a different take on the issue than the one
presented by the media article or feature.

I don't think this would take a lot of time, I intend to post DNS
Policy related news myself throughtout the day, but I can't possibly
catch every single article myself. I'd also encourage the media
members on this list to submit links to their articles to help assist
in making this a useful site.

I really hope this site can be a diverse site, a site where someone
who may not have the grounding or history in the subject (like most of
us do) can go to findout some of the history, get different views, and
find the media coverage on the events effecting the dns. A place
where newcomers to this process can get a good grounding, and find
lots of resources. It was actually questions emailed to me from
newcomers, and asked by people on IRC when I've mentioned some of the
issues, that inspired me to create this site.

I'll commit to making sure that I don't let my bias get in the way of
approving submissions, or in other aspects of the site.

If you have something you think would help make this site useful to
the community, please let me know. If you think you can play a role
in helping run this thing, PLEASE let me know :) I'm busy as it is,
and will welcome any help, even if it is just a few minutes worth a
day. This can support numerous "editors" to help admin the site.

There are lots of parts of the engine that have not been properly
edited and modified from the release yet. I'm working on those, but
the basic functionality is there. A better color scheme/design is
something else I want, this one pretty much stinks, but it works.

OK, my flame suit is on. Responses in public or private are welcomed.
