Using it in conjunction with a cluster file system like GFS2 can give you a very robust alternative Windows file server cluster option. <put on his Red Hat... hat> RHEL6 (which should be launching in a few weeks now) has Samba3 w/ CTDB support, as well as support for GFS2.
