Wouldn't be a problem if developers chose a real solution instead of the
fastest one they could grab their hands on and get the job done with.
Makes no sense to me, since Firebird predates most RDBMS history wise.
Much less became open source before allot of the popular FOSS
applications that use a RDBMS were even created.

Along those same lines, PostgreSQL doesn't get as much love as MySQL,
but is not as neglected as Firebird. Lots of FOSS applications have
support for PostgreSQL and MySQL. Firebird is the red headed step child.

I tried for years at LWE to get the various magazines to do an article
on Firebird. Even put them in touch with principles. I sware MySQL was
paying them to do articles on them. Much less at times paying for
advertising and that made articles bias :(

To this date I have yet to see ANY Linux publication do anything on
Firebird. Which is very sad. Considering at one point even MySQL had the
creator of the core of Firebird working for them, Jim Starkey ;)

Also found out not to long ago that SAS is a major contributor to
Firebird, development wise, for some time now.
