John: I hate to say this, however this is not an ideal function for ColdFusion. The .NET platform has a DirectoryWatcher class that can notify a .NET application that a multitude of events occurred within the "watched" directory tree. I had an app. where I needed something similar and had nothing but headaches with CF. Finally broke down and wrote a .NET mini-app that did the same functions and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Also, the directory watcher functionality of .NET is in real-time so you do not have to so a scheduled event or what not to get it to run.
Just my $0.02 worth. Best of luck, -JSLucido -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of John Ivanoff Sent: Thursday, July 20, 2006 3:21 PM To: dfw cfug Subject: [DFW CFUG] direcory watch - how amny files? I have a directory watch working. it cycles/looks for new files every thirty minutes. I was hoping to drop a folder containing a lot of files. like 100, i take info from the files and would add it to a db. it will only add 50 files and then it doesn't add the rest. If I drop a new file into the folder it will add the new file so it's still running. an interesting twist is if I do this, after info is inserted into the DB and then I move the files to another foleder only 11 files will be proccessed. any ideas? thanks, John _______________________________________________ Reply to DFWCFUG: [email protected] Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://lists1.safesecureweb.com/mailman/listinfo/list List Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/list%40list.dfwcfug.org/ http://www.mail-archive.com/list%40dfwcfug.org/ DFWCFUG Sponsors: www.HostMySite.com www.teksystems.com/ _______________________________________________ Reply to DFWCFUG: [email protected] Subscribe/Unsubscribe: http://lists1.safesecureweb.com/mailman/listinfo/list List Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/list%40list.dfwcfug.org/ http://www.mail-archive.com/list%40dfwcfug.org/ DFWCFUG Sponsors: www.HostMySite.com www.teksystems.com/
