Yes, this can be done quite efficiently with cursors in SQL - do not fall into the trap of doing it through recursion in SQL. SQL only allows 16 levels of depth with recursive SP's and its highly inefficient.

I can post an example if anyone is interested. It takes a minute for the solution to clikc, but once it does it makes sense. =)

i wonder why that is.  i've run across the problem
Joe describes in real
life before more than once.  In my case, i was
trying to build a library of
resources, and i wanted to able to divide a topic
into subtopics
indefinitely.

Surely others run into this as well.  Is the
difficulty in CF or is it in
SQL?
