There are several recursion techniques that do not require exhausting what stack space may be available. SQL Server 2005 now has
recursive CTEs (common table expressions) that provide for a roughly set based approach to solving this type of problem. DB2 v8 has
some interesting constructs similar to this as well.

life before more than once. In my case, i was
trying to build a library of
resources, and i wanted to able to divide a topic
into subtopics
indefinitely.
Surely others run into this as well. Is the
difficulty in CF or is it in
SQL?
