Updating, adding, and managing software on Ubuntu wins hands down over any
other distro I have tried, and between Aaron and myself, we have used about
10 different distros in the past 3 months or so. In addition to the
software management, the built-in driver support for Ubuntu wins especially
in the area of wireless networking, but also for simple things such as
properly setting up hotkeys on your laptop. The frequency scaling that
Ubuntu does with your processor, while not entirely unique works very well.
In fact in regards to the processor, my processor is not working nearly as
hard with Ubuntu as it did with openSUSE, which is my most recent dabbling
into other distros.

When it comes to running programs, Linux is Linux is Linux. Pretty much
anything you can run on one, you can run on another. It is the simple "feel
good" things that I listed above that make the difference to me.

Ubuntu seemed to run smoother for me (and didn't seem to have as big of a
memory foot print as Red Hat)
And updating is VERY easy.
