Thanks Mike - I was hoping to tap you for a number of topics over time :-) What would you say to a 30 minute presentation on CFEclipse for the next 2-4 meetings running - each time covering a different aspect of using CFEclipse?

I'd be glad to give any presentations on topics I know of. Specifically, I could manage the time to prepare some Eclipse or OO / CFC material if you need. Perhaps we could even have an Eclipse question and answer session at some point as well as a presentation on the general topics covered? I say this because I can share with the group the basics of setting up different workspaces and working with Eclipse and all the plugins in general, but it would probably be value for us all to see the different reasons that users in our group seperate workspaces, etc. As for Ajax, I can help with that, but I am way more familiar with prototype / scriptaculous / jQuery usage directly than I am CF 8's Ajax functionality. I would also like to put my vote in for someone using Railo, Bluedragon (.Net or JX), or Smith to speak about their experiences, feature differences, and maybe question-answer about them. (cough...Dave Shuck / Aaron, I know you've been switching servers often). Excuse my long cough there...getting a cold maybe. Mike. Tom Woestman wrote: Chris, Excellent list of topics - thanks! I will endeavor to get them scheduled soon. Tom, congrats on the new position! I've got an idea or two for topics and possible presentations. I've recently started using ColdFusion 8 Report Builder, and really like it (in fact, I'm about to start using it *right now*). It's my first experience with banded report templates (ala Crystal Reports), so there's probably someone in the group that would be a better pick for doing a small intro on this tool, but if none were to arise, I'd give it a shot. I'd also like to see the following topics: * Eclipse over view including: - handling multiple workspaces - incorporating ftp - incorproating subversion * Subversion - what is it - best practices - differences in version control with a compiled language vs. a scripted language - anything else on subversion/version control that I don't know enough to even ask ;o) * Debugging Ajax * AjaxCFC (I might could speak on this one too, unless someone else more experienced would like to do it instead) * Alternate CFML parsers (i.e. the Smith project, Railo, etc. probably not BlueDragon, I think we're all pretty familiar with that one) - it would be nice to show an actual live install of the engine, and then an overview of differences and gotchas that a CF programmer would need to know about. Okay... that's enough for now. I've got to get my nose to the grind stone. Congrats again Tom! :o) Chris On 9/17/07, Eric Knipp <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Tom, Sure this sounds good. Keep in mind I am going to be talking about ColdFusion integration with WebSphere MQ, not WebSphere Application Server (that is another discussion in itself). I see your presentation being of the first type - a good overview of what you can do with CF in Web Sphere and any caveat's you have for other folks who may go this route. If folks would like to hear more then we can do a follow up in more depth if you are willing to continue the presentation in a future meeting. Does this sound ok with you? Tom Next month would be fine. I am knee deep in this MQ stuff right now so it is a good "opportunity" for me to document a few things and present them to folks. Thirty minutes will just cover the surface of integration of ColdFusion with MQ - I am not sure that is enough time for code samples. How are you envisioning these 30 minute sessions? Eric On 9/17/07, Tom Woestman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Eric, Apologies for putting you on the spot but it was too good of a perfectly timed offer :-) I would welcome the presentation for general information and expect a 30 minute talk would be welcome to all. As to timing please let me know what will work for you - next month would be great but anytime you are willing will be welcome. Tom I asked you about this off list to avoid being put on the spot - thanks a lot =) I suppose I could put an introductory presentation together for next month if there is enough interest. As long as the date of the meeting doesn't conflict with MAX that is =) Eric On 9/17/07, Tom Woestman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Folks, One other thing - we would like to start providing a series of short how-to or introduction to a topic presentations with at least one in each meeting. If you know a topic well and would like to present an up to 30 minutes discussion of that topic then let me know! If there is significant interest in the initial intro presentation we will invite you to come back and expand on it in a later meeting. Eric Knipp just asked about ColdFusion-WebSphere MQ integration - this would be a great way to start our topic series. Eric - are you are willing to put together a 30 minute talk on that topic for next months meeting?
