Man, I really wish I could help you. You give such good details of the problem, you deserve some assistance. I am currently using both and have not have any mail delivery issues to date. Just for thought, did you try a clean install and setup the rules rather than an upgrade? I only mention because I had one system eating my lunch and a clean install fixed all problems. There apparently was something in my config it just did not like. I even tried to replicate the issue and could not. I agree it seems like an MTU issue. Good Luck.
