I'm not looking at the interface right now, but I thought the optional
interfaces let you override the domain name the client gets. If you leave it
blank it defaults to whatever you initially setup with pfSense. It maybe under
DHCP or the DNS options under services. I'm sure I've seen where you can
override those settings.

Subject: [pfSense] dnsmasq: Register DHCP client IDs in DNS with a different
domain name
Date: Sat, Feb 23, 2013 10:10 am

Dear List

My intend is to use the DNS forwarder only for a network on an optional
interface, which is part of a network using a different domain name than
the LAN network. I would like DHCP clients on the optional interface to
register their DHCP client ID in the DNS forwarder with another domain
name than the one coming from the General Setup Tab.

I tried to add a domain name to the DHCPd config, a domain=xy directive
and the no-resolv option in the advanced options of dnsmasq, but that
doesn't help: The clients get still registered with the default domain
name of the firewall. What do I have to do to achieve my goal?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Best regards, Adrian.
