Finding the hardware list isn’t hard; finding the hardware physically is. Much 
like RAID cards and motherboards (rocketraid doesn’t play well with a lot of 
boards, BTW (and not ESXi-compatible either) there are all sorts of things that 
simply don’t play well together. We just happen to be lucky these days that 
most hardware works with most others - you just have to worry about the 
specialized stuff.

For ESXi I stick to big name-brand systems, either the SuperMicro boards or the 
brand servers (HP, Dell, IBM).

As for Adam’s earlier comment about searching elsewhere - it’s easier to be 
slightly helpful and direct then be direct and unhelpful :)
