Anyhow, I'd prefer a differenct solution altogether. Yikes!
There's an OpenSource project under way (www.abisource.com), which is
actively developing a full-fledged wordprocessor called AbiWord that is
currently supported on Unixes and MS Windows. The cool thing about this wp
imho is that it saves its files in a type of XML format.
These are ascii files that contain formatting information in an XML format.
This makes it quite easy to process them and turn them into anything
ranging from RTF to PDF to XDF (just joking). REBOL could easily be used to
transform these files into some other format or strip out the XML tags
altogether.
Any (friendly ;-) opinions?
