OK here's m philosophy on whats good and moral with samplers: 1. Loading in drum kits - collections of sounds is FINE. This gives me 64 drum kits instead of 1 or two. I am convinced this isn't naughty. Without it I couldn't even put bongo's in my tunes. 2. Loading in drum loops - EVIL NAUGHTY BEHAVIOUR a big NO! 3. Loading in other people's synth lines - OI! NO! BEHAVE! 4. Loading in weird FX and random noises from the TV, compleltely changing them with FX and the other usual stuff to give your music a different feel - GOOD! Lovely stuff! 5. Vocal samples - GOOD! 6. Using sampler to record your favourite synth line then add even more overlayed fx and get to use your synth for another synth line - GOOD! 7. Using software (like reason) to create weird noises but you want them hard and powerful so stick em in the sampler to beef/FX them up - GOOD! Thats my opinion anyway! Andy p.s. I know people who make real techno (not acid just crunching rythms) they use samplers for everything except the single synth line they have (Future retro 777). They use any and every noise they can get their hands on to make interesting noises to stick in the rythm - once you've gated and fx'd them - it really dosen't make much difference - its building the rythm thats important in techno not the exact noise behind it which you're gonna screw with so much anyway ... I respect their music and the way they do it, even though its not for me p.p.s. ALL my stuff is 100% orignial i've never sampled any loops or melodies. ----Original Message Follows---- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [TB-303.org] -Using effects pedals Date: Thu, 21 Mar 2002 08:48:21 -0500 from TB-303 resources mailing list -------[ http://www.tb-303.org ] ---------------------- I think samplers are only good for stealing other peoples sounds. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew Steady" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, March 21, 2002 5:10 AM Subject: Re: [TB-303.org] -Using effects pedals > from TB-303 resources mailing list > -------[ http://www.tb-303.org ] ---------------------- > > I know some people that would disagree with that! hehe > > Personally I got bored of choosing from ten drum sounds ... samplers help > here :) > > Andy (dosen't have a 909 so maybe thats the problem) S > ----Original Message Follows---- > From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: [TB-303.org] -Using effects pedals > Date: Thu, 21 Mar 2002 02:37:45 -0500 > > from TB-303 resources mailing list > -------[ http://www.tb-303.org ] ---------------------- > > BTW samplers should only be used for vocal hits. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Tim Cannady" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Thursday, March 21, 2002 1:03 AM > Subject: Re: [TB-303.org] -Using effects pedals > > > > from TB-303 resources mailing list > > -------[ http://www.tb-303.org ] ---------------------- > > > > Im very new to all of this.
