This discussion reminds why I really wish there was a T1 tag in HTML (T2 as well, for that matter).

Major error: All documents begins with a title (and often a subtitle). HTML does not include a title element in the body. It's not enough to have a title in the head, since it doesn't show in the body. Titles are meant to be read as the top level of a document's structure, not as metadata.

This is the root cause of this discussion, IMHO. H1 should be the top heading, not the title of the page, but since there is no T1, we have a hard time figuring out what is logical. And then we have the rule that H1 should only be used once on a page. If there was a T1, then it would logically only be used once, and H1 could be used as often as necessary. What we have now is that H2 functions as H1 would in a print document, and H1 is often used as we would use T1 in a print document. Why? Why? Why?

Now, you can say all you want that the Web isn't print, but there's no need to reinvent the wheel. Docs have titles, which are usually tagged as T1 in print. I can't stand it that HTML didn't follow that useful convention.
