It is a bad idea to use letter-spacing for body text, imho.
You page looks much better at the defaults
<http://www.l-c-n.com/b/chris2.png> with letter-spacing
<http://www.l-c-n.com/b/chris1.png> without.
OS X, Camino and Firefox.
And no, I don't have Verdana activated.
Besides, as others already mentioned, it would be better to use ems
for this.
