Time to simmer down. The problems of the world are one thing. My problems are another. The outer may reflect the inner and vice versa, but my arena must always remain the inner. The outer is not unimportant. For that is the field where we practice our language, and test our language. Where our language becomes our test. The test of our honesty. That's the reason why the pseudo's avoid the outer like the plague. Their language would be exposed in all its sly treachery. Here they're all gummed together in their sticky usages. No need to seek them out. Their need to proselytize will drive them back across my range sooner that I could wish for. The killing is going back in high gear both in Israel and in Iraq. Hurricanes only provide a brief respite. Now all the attention is swinging back to governmentally organized killing. Should I not return to my own issues? Yes, surely I should. But the state of the world takes my breath away and I can't shut it down so easily. Is there no good news? Yes, there is in Canada. But Canada is only a small side show. And soon it will yield again to the pressures of world politics. Best I leave the keyboard and get into my exercises and get ready for my other agenda. Tone down the hysteria, which isn't really hysteria. But
enough. (pause) Bush babies infest this site like dust mites.

One American who's not stupid is Barack Obama, Senator for Illinois.
Thank god, he's beginning to gain more access to tv. He's utterly uncanny in his use of language. Better than Seymor Hirsh, better than Noam Chompsky. He can talk his way out of any clumsy question put to him and construct answers that present the most constructive context for workable solutions to America's
problems. He can construct answers that expose all the devious bloody-
mindedness of the administration without using any language that becomes actionable for the enemy. When will he be assassinated? The oil oligarchs will not sit back long. The America that is now in power cannot tolerate such a man and they will get him. He cannot be sidelined, like Hirsh or Chompsky; besides he's black and thus ripe for extermination. Perhaps I'll hold my private funeral for him before his time is up. That way he may escape the henchmen of the administration in Washington. But they will surely cripple him, poison his food. They cannot afford to let him live. He'd destroy all their credibility, their
damnable deniability (Reagan's proud coinage). John Roberts, his chief
minion, soon to be installed as chief of the Supreme Court. What a country!
Who will weep for humanity, now that k isn't around to weep for us.

More stupid Americans. As if I had a right to expect anything else. Their intention flagged by the sloppiness of their text presentations. Marked contrast between gv's first and second post. First civilized, second ornery. Good to note the difference. It's the only difference worth noting. More dreams too. But now all forgotten. The Academy (Tony yesterday) a disappointment. But I'll stay for a while. I think the contact is something worth monitoring. It brings a bit of discipline, but not too much. I can always drop out later. There is an echo in this room, as if I was addressing some nervous tick within. If there is a nervous tick within, it's probably good to address it. Most likely it's picking up on some external malice slinking from ambush to ambush. Calls from Heather and Gus to hold me steady. More important perhaps the calls I make to those in need of support. Soon I must also move on the Galloway issue. At least not let it drop
out of sight. Can I get back to serious questions? A quote may help.

Look at resistance. Look into the eyes of resistance. It's me. Resistance and enquiry are natural play mates. They love to tussle and romp around together. It the healthiest exercise ever devised for the brain. It's not peace, not beauty, not all that. But it's the best I can do. So do it - here and not here.

It's that movement between enquiry and resistance that needs to remain my primary arena of observation. It's also that observation that stirred the nasty Americans into their angry responses. The outside reflects the inside. It is the same movement. Here and not here. Seeing the identical nature, not just in logic, would open the door that I keep banging against. Do the exercise. Here
and not here.

Dream last night. Talking to some elderly Russian Jews (immigrants like me). They seemed to be the only ones to understand my ramblings. The stupid Americans (especially here) have no sense at all what life is all about. Saw a piece of another interview with George Galloway yesterday. Partly about a debate with Hitchens at a Jewish institution in Brooklyn. Americans seem to have no sense at all about the fanaticism that is driving the oil plutocrats behind Bush. Galloway: If Bush hadn't met with such fierce resistance in Iraq, American troops would be sitting in Tehran and in Damascus by now. The point that only the Russian Jews understood had to do with my difficulties of adjusting from the environment of a boarding school in post-war Germany to the savagery of American society, where the rich have no compunction about exploiting the poor, and indeed exploiting the rest of the world, to the hilt. Galloway also: the nexus between Israeli dealings with the Palestinians and US atrocities in the Arab world. (The interviewer: Ken Rock[well] on cpac). On the matter of the dream itself, I remember very little beyond a sympathetic feeling of understanding that seemed to emanate from those people. Why was that feeling of understanding so important? Perhaps part of carrying on with the enquiry. Of moving forward. Why Russian Jews? I meet them at the Academy. They are
more in tune with me.
