Hmm, I don't think your problem really exists in real world.

Or do you really change your auth options several times every day? If so, it would be better to symlink your auth program. You could change it simply with two shell commands... :)

But I agree, there are two different views of this whole process. Providing both options would be the best solution for everyone.
