Yes, that makes sense...

Too late <g> already deleted the folders, and moved the messages to a
backup POP folder.. thinking that I can just recreate the folders, but
could not create any folders...

If you were affected, to fix the problem, the folders Maildir/cur,
Maildir/tmp and Maildir/new must be recreated.
