It wouldn't be something that I'd want to have in the main trunk of Binc IMAP. But you are free to make this change yourself, or with help from the community. I seems there are quite many preferences on this topic. :-) I'm tempted to isolate the code that transforms IMAP mailbox names to Maildir paths further, simply for the purpose of making changes like this easier.
