We need to set up a new RD licensing server in a new forest (no trusts with any other forests). In another forest, we have installed the RD licensing server on one of the DCs. It appears that beginning in Server 2008, we now have the ability to install the licensing component on a non-DC server per https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh553158(v=ws.10).aspx. Based on other people's experiences, are there any compelling reasons to either use or not use a DC as the RD licensing server?
