Thing one:

I believe that this is here to take a good inventory of our Win7 systems so when they attempt to upgrade us to Windows 10, we won't be dropping like flies. The diagnostic code in the system appears to be the same as what is in the Win10 beta code.

Also be aware of reported "corruption" of the system after installing this update. I do not believe it's actual corruption. I believe that someone didn't update the master database and now when you run sfc /scannow it "appears" and reports corruption - but I honestly think this is a bogus error.

Of course if Microsoft would actually come out and say what they are doing with this update instead of us having to guess about it that would be grand. And if they'd fix their backend to not report corruption, that would be even grander.

And select the entry for Q3022345 ( near the middle of the list )

Then search Google with a key of

And you can get to

Basically seems to me to be a facility for letting MS record what your system is
when you (well your PC's windows OS) 'reports' a 'problem'.

Subject: [NTSysADM] the Diagnostics Tracking Service: what and why?

Q3022345 installs the Diagnostics Tracking Service.
While I find a lot of paranoia on the web I'm still unsure what this tracking
does and why I should(would) install it.

Can anyone shed any light on this update?

Thanks
