Thanks Duncan for your input. I should mention that we are only experiencing
this issue on handful servers and rest of the servers are working fine, so it
does not seem like MP issue. Other servers in the same subnet working fine, so
it is not network issue. These handful troubled servers are with Windows 2008
R2 with IE8 but other servers with same configuration works, so not OS/IE patch
related issue. Domain Controller is also verified and eliminated from the
equation. It looks like something local to these handful servers but can’t
pinpoint it. Since FQDN does not work, agent stops working on them.

Anand,

Do you have multiple websites in IIS, and/or is the website for the MP
configured with host headers? You may want to check your website bindings on
the MP, ensuring that you don’t have any host headers set up. If you do have a
host header set up for servername on your MP website (hopefully not), and you
must use them (hopefully not), then add an additional one for the FQDN for
servername as well.

Yes, nslookup resolves correctly for both FQDN and IP.

Sounds like an issue with naming resolution to me. Could you do an nslookup
against that FQDN or IP and see what you get back?

Hi,
Has anyone seen this before where MP test url does not work if FQDN is used?
Works fine if only server name is used (without FQDN). Any idea/clue?

http://Servername/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mplist = works.

http://Servername.domain.com/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mplist = does not work.

Anand
