This is odd. I have some WSUS clients that are seem to be not checking
in with the server.

WSUS 3.2.7600.226
Problem clients WSUS version shows as 7.9.9600.17930
The problem clients are all Win2012 R2 (altho my other Win2012 R2
clients, with that same version, are checking in fine).

WSUS server is assigned via GPO; I have done a "gpupdate /force", just
to be sure. No change, no check in. On the 5 problem clients, I did:

REG DELETE "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate"/v
SusClientId /f
REG DELETE "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate"/v
SusClientIdValidation /f

NET STOP BITS
NET START BITS

NET START WUAUSERV

WUAUCLT /resetauthorization /detectnow

No change; 1 client shows last check in 2015-08-21; 3 others are
2015-08-28; 1 is 2015-08-30. All different times of day.

I even tried going to the Windows Update icon in Control Panel, and
manually tell it to check updates (not online); no change.

I looked in the WindowsUpdate log; I see no errors reported at the
times I tried to check in again (either with the "detectnow" or
manually).

I'm about lost at this point. What am I missing here? I have 150
clients (including other Win2012 R2) that are checking in just fine.
These 5 had been checking in fine, now they seem to have stopped. (so
I don't think it's a pervasive problem with WSUS, but is instead
something specific to these 5).

Where to go to next?
