Reading back over that assessment of Secunia I wrote more than a year ago, I would like to add that they have done a good job of improving the quality of their patch process since I wrote that. Many of the small modifications I formerly had to make on my own are now available in Secunia's patch creation process itself - so I have been able to take most recent patches directly into SCCM from the Secunia process. Things like "leave the quicktime icon off the desktop" and "accept Adobe's EULA and turn off auto-updates for Flash" --That kind of stuff is now checkboxes in the patch creation process - so I don't have to tear out the default patch and replace it with a customized one hardly ever. I am still pleased with Secunia, but I don't have any experience with another vendor besides roll-your-own with SCUP. ________________________________ From: [email protected] [[email protected]] on behalf of Art Flores [[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, September 16, 2015 3:49 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [mssms] 3rd party patching with SCCM
Howdy Folks, We are looking at 3rd party patching, and I am aware of the following products, but I would like to read over a review with pros and cons of each, Gartner has information for client management tools, but nothing with a focus on 3rd party application patching with SCCM. Attached is an email I saved from Todd Miller, this is the kind of information I was hoping to find. Has anyone come across a recent link that does a good job of comparing them? >From the emails on this list, it sounds like Secunia and PatchMyPC are the >most popular, is anyone using SolarWinds? PatchMyPC Shavlik SolarWinds Secunia I did find this one link below, but it is kind of old. http://myitforum.com/myitforumwp/2013/01/22/3rd-party-patch-management-part-1-2/ Thanks.
