Hello all, Got a strange one here and hopefully others have seen this.
I sent a deployment out to all of our Windows 7 and 8.1 computers to upgrade Office 2010 to Office 2013 and this also installs SP1 for Office 2013. I used the standard detection method of using the proplusww.msi. [cid:[email protected]] So when this deployment initially went out I started seeing successes for the testing phase and I know for sure the machines that showed up successful actually did install correctly. Then later in the day I checked again and those machines moved from successful to error status. My theory is that after Office 2013 installs, it checks for that proplusww.msi and reports back successful. Then after it checks again, after SP1 is installed the properties on the proplusww.msi change and it then reports back as an error? I tried a few things with changing the detection method. I first copied the original deployment and then changed the detection method to the image below. Then simulated a new deployment to all of our Windows 7 and 8 machines. [cid:[email protected]] This is reporting back way too many as successful. I'm seeing Distribution Points showing up for example which I know do not have Office 2013 installed. So then I tried changing to check for three exe's as shown below. [cid:[email protected]] This is also showing up with nearly the same results where DP's show up successful. I tried another way to detect for the GUID of Office 2013 SP1 and AGAIN still getting false positives. So I'm at wits end and just tried creating a brand new application instead of copying and sent another simulated deployment that is looking for the three exe's. Just waiting for the reporting to kick in and see what happens. I'm wide open to any suggestions!
