As Matthew said, it's about avoiding mistakes. If you have extensive GPOs applied, like we do, even putting something in the wrong place briefly can cause problems if it's on and refreshes, especially if you have any software deployments.
Back in the day, it was also about not moving OUs around by accident. Nowadays, if you have the checkbox enabled for "Protect object from accidental deletion" on all of your OUs, this prevents that problem. -Bonnie From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Matthew Topper Sent: Wednesday, November 4, 2015 4:15 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [NTSysADM] RE: AD: Drag & Drop vs Move I use 'move' for the sole purpose of avoiding drag and drop mistakes, such as lifting my mouse button over the wrong container, and not due to any technical difference between the two methods. Long ago, I was told that best practice when moving objects was to right click and select "Move" rather than utilizing drag & drop. I've always used "Move" because of this, but wonder if that still holds true (or if it was even a wives' tale back then). Do others drag & drop with success? Thanks! Best, Dan
