Thanks Jesse. I did another test on my folder, and saw how it works. It only
goes down one level from the level you apply it, as far as applying the limit.
My fear was that it would go deeper, so users' subfolders would also have that
5GB limit, but as you said, and my test showed, it doesn't do that.

We're starting with soft quotas, because there are lots of people over the
limit as it is. Our goal is to get folks down, then place the hard quota.

I use hard quotas for that purpose. But, yes, I would apply it to the HOME
folder itself, using auto apply template and create on existing and new.
Everyone in that HOME folder will get the 5GB quota then (and from there you
can manually adjust specific users if they need more).

It works pretty well actually.

Subject: [NTSysADM] Question about File Server Resource Manager quotas

We're looking to put quotas on our users' home drives. I've been playing with
FSRM on my own folder, but looking at how to apply it to everyone, it becomes a
bit muddled. The question, is if I apply the quota at the share level, which
is a folder called Home, then select the radio button to Auto apply template
and create quotas on existing and new subfolders, will the quota on the share
level alarm right away? To illustrate:

Home - template set to 5GB soft quota, and applied to all subfolders

Home\JHeaton - should now have a 5GB soft quota
Home\JHeaton\documents - does this folder also have a 5GB soft quota?

Do all the 5GB quotas on the subfolders add up to above the 5GB soft quota on
the Home share level?

I'm not sure if that's clear enough, but hopefully it's a start.
