All,

Setup: Dell e6530 on a wired connection (BIOS is set to disable
wireless when a wired connection is detected), and the hard drive has
been recently replaced with an SSD. Win8.1 Enterprise. Office 2013
ProPlus, Project 2013 Standard, Visio 2013 Standard. A few
miscellaneous apps, including Skype personal.

We're running Lync Server 2013. With patches, Lync 2013 client now
shows as Skype for Business 2015.

User notes that a few days ago, prior to the installation of February
patches, that Skype for Business 2015 was non-responsive, taking
forever to login, change status, etc. It's basically unusable, with
the blue spinning circle showing up when hovering over the client, and
the client losing focus and regaining it over and over again while
trying to use it.

Outlook and other apps work fine.

I updated his drivers
I did a repair of Office from the control panel
I uninstalled and re-installed Office.
I tried it under my own login, having never before logged into the
machine with my user account, so it's a fresh profile.

Rebooted between each of those steps, but Lync/Skype was horrible each
time I tried it.

The only thing we haven't done is wait for patches for Office to be
re-installed, and we haven't uninstalled Skype personal.

I've looked at the event logs, and don't see anything
relevant/interesting in any of them.

Can anyone out there recommend other troubleshooting steps?

I'm about to recommend rebuilding the machine from scratch.

Kurt
