Took me awhile to find this again after I first saw it
on the show.

here is a brief transcript:

AL Roaker: We're talking so far this year everyone is
talking about hybrid vehicles. There expect about
200,000 and 260,000 next year. What we have here are 2
special bicycles and andy engleston is the E.N.V.
project director of Intelligent Energy. Good Morning.

Andy: Good morning nice to meet you too.

AL: These 2 bikes are called the ENVY. WHat is the
ENV?

Andy ENgleton: Well, the ENV stand for Emission
Neutral Vehicle. This is a hydrogen powered bike. It's
a hybridized bike. Partly powered by a fuel cell and
partly by battery.

Lady1: This is interesting because many ppl think that
about hydrogen power- "Is it safe?"

Andy: yes, it is safe.

Lady1: It is safe? Where is the hydrogen actually
stored?

Andy: The Hydrogen is stored in this chassis here in a
pressurized cylinder.

Lady1: Oh, inside this area here. Okay, alright.

AL: Compared to a regular motorbike of this size, how
powerful is it?

Andy: It's about 9hp, but the bike is very light and
powered by an electric motor.

Lady2: The question of course that I want to know is
"If I was to ride one of these, where do you refuel?"
You say it can go 50 mph and go 100 miles, but where
do you refuel one of these?

Andy: It needs to be refueled every 100 miles on 5
ounces of hydrogen. But, you go to a hydrogen
refueling station.

AL: I dont know where any of those are around or not.

Andy: There are not. There are 29 in California.
Though there will be 200 in 2 years time.

Lady1: What is your vision for this?

Andy: We have a reforming technology so you should be
able to produce hydrogen at home.

Lady1: Oh.

Andy: And fuel the bike with that. Using biofuel.

AL: If you get into any kind of accident can the
hydrogen get out? And if it does, can it be a problem?

Andy: No, these all have their safety certificates and
so on. So there is no danger from that.

Lady2: When will they be able to be available on the
market? ANd how much?

Andy: They will be available as early as December
2006. It will be somewhere between 6-8 thousand
dollars.

Lady1: Its a nice to know that ppl are looking
seriously at alternative forms of fuel because
obviously that is a problem.

Lady2: Yes, I want to buy one.

AL: I got a couple of guys in helmets [over there].

Lady1: Thank you for coming out.

Andy: Yeah, we're gonna start them up now.

Lady2: We are gonna get out of the way. Andy, thanks
so much.

AL: Now the interesting thing is you dont really hear
anything

Andy: Right. There is little sound and the only
emmission is water vapor.

Lady1: Wow. That's fantastic. So it is better for the
environment.

AL: Look I cant even hear them. Dont hit anybody.

Lady2: Thanks, Andy.
