Hello all.

Just spoke with Shawn Lawless of Orange Juice and Monster Garage fame.  He had a customer today asking about a hi po electric dirt bike.  The gas bike he's currently running is putting out 13HP peak.  Says a race is 30 minutes long.  Shawn figured a Lithium pack would be a possibility, but they they started throwing around the idea of a hybrid.

You could take the current 13HP ICE power plant, and run that unit at a constant 13HP.  I think a parallel hybrid would be more efficient, but a series hybrid would be the only way to run the ICE at peak power all the time.  With 13HP average on tap, you could run at least a 26HP peak electric?  Or is this way too much stuff to put on a dirt bike.  You'd need an alternator(motor) and batteries and controller and motor.

Any other ideas?  Sounds like this customer has some pretty deep pockets, so lets throw some ideas out there.
