Most of us use a single gear ratio so no tranny. I'm running my motorcycle
at 54 volts with a 48V 400 amp Alltrax controller and a 14/41 gear ratio.
Acceleration is fine, more like a car than a motorcycle, however. I easily
keep up with traffic and I top out at 60 mph. 175 lbs of BB600 Nicad
batteries provide me a solid 15 miles of range. The weight to miles ratio
is a little better with my Nicads than with Lead Acid batteries, although
not by much.

Hello all!
Just introducing myself. I'm full swing into my own EM build, and I was
relieved to find this list.
Are any of you using the existing transmissions with your conversions,
or are you running straight drives?
What kind of motor controllers are you running? What is the average
voltage? I'm curious to see how far off my conversion is from other,
successful conversions.
