My name is Travis and I'm in the Greater Portland area and want to build a commuter bike. I'm looking at VFR's from the 80's as a chassis, kelly controller, and a PM motor. I have a few links, and am starting the design process as soon as I get a chassis thats got enough room for batteries. I'm wanting 20+ miles a charge and be able to use it to go to work 10 min away in stop and go traffic.
Just wondering why an old VFR. Sounds to me like your objective is not out of line assuming your top speed isn't too high.
Has anyone heard of Kelly's controller or used it at all? Its got regen and PWM of the main contactor and some decent specs. There's no online datasheet and I'd like to see if anyone's used it.
I'm not familiar with them. Anyone else? They seem pretty inexpensive for a regen.
