I think I'll be sending Jim both my old, burned up Etek and my shiny
shiny virgin Etek.

Hey Mike
I've heard about the Eteks spitting solder under heavy
current but in fact I haven't seen one yet. Almost
all of the motor mod's I've done so far deal with
series and sepex motors as they are the ones I'm
seeing. I'd love to see if in fact there is anything
that can be done to protect them from spitting the
solder but will have to see one before I can offer any
ideas on it.
As for Kevlar banding, I've Banded both comm's and
windings on some series wound motors. I'm not sure
how many of these have seen service yet, but I'm
expecting good results. My shop neighbor builds
airplanes and has helped me obtain the Kevlar and a
thermal setting resin for it and he feels it's going
to work great (kind of more up his ally than mine so
to speak).
Anyway I'll be attending the NEDRA Nationals at the
Portland International raceway on the 17th and 18th of
this month if there is anyone out here close who'd
like to bring me one. I'd be more than happy to have
a look and to offer my opinion as to what if anything
can be done to beef up the permags like I'm doing for
the larger motors.
For those who haven't been to my website I'd like to
welcome them to have a look at some of the stuff I've
done for both racers and daily driver motors. You'll
find some pics of some of the Kevlar banding I've done
to date. Also feel free to copy this to the MC list.
I keep busy at the EVDL list and truly don't have time
for another at this time 8^)
Hope this helps
