My controller is under the gas tank but is mounted just in front of the dc
to dc converter and 6th battery which is centered under my tank. My motor is
located under the back of the tank/front of the seat. Airflow for the motor
is an issue I am addressing with 4 mini fans, very small. Water is not an
issue as the tank and seat provide enough coverage.

Batteries are sealed from outside elements, do not submerse them or short
them out but otherwise should be okay. If you use AGMs those are truly
sealed. Other batteries have caps that keep out water/contaminants.
