Wavecrest built a hubpowered motard as a product demonstration for the military. The original link of a powerpoint that is in the archives doesnt work for me, but this link works (sorry for the long URL) http://www.authorstream.com/Presentation/Dennison-26130-Kolhoff-Authors-Outline-Identifying-Mobility-Needs-Mission-Profiles-Platform-American-Chariot-Segway-HT-John-as-Entertainment-ppt-powerpoint/
Its on slide ten. I would be curious too about how a two wheel-powered cycle would perform. Which raises some questions that the builder would have to figure out. Will the hubmotor design add too much drag when freewheeling especially on the front wheel? Will the motors be in series or parallel? Since the motor is upfront, Braking has to be taking into account, too. Unfortunately, this particular aspect will depend on the front motors design too. How much braking force is needed? Will it act like the old drum brakes? At which point will the friction brakes engage? These last items are not safety issues that can be taken lightly. --- Jeffrey Blamey wrote: > I have seen a two-wheeled two-wheel drive motorcycle > that was gas > powered and built with tires like an ATV for > wilderness riding (kind > of ungainly).
