BTW, possible old news to you builders, but new news to me:

I am interested in a slightly bigger than bicycle EV project, and I found a lot
of interesting hardware, motors,
controllers, control interfaces and such in robot, particularly battle-bot,
oriented suppliers. The very heaviest bots
use 1-3 hp motors and there are dual-channel controllers up to 125A/channel
perfect for my di-wheel.

Note: I didn't see anything heavy enough for a 300+ lb motorcycle

For instance: The most interesting choice was the Dewalt 24V hammerdrill motor
available here for < $60 ( gear box and
hardened versions available)
