Hi everyone,

I called around this evening and checked most of the hotels in Coconut Grove
within about 6 blocks or so, about a 10-20 minute walk, of Miami City Hall.
Almost every single hotel is fully booked for Friday night, April 11.

But I was able to book a reservation on Hotels.com at the Mayfair Hotel and
Spa (also called Mayfair House Hotel). I am staying there Thursday and
Friday nights, checking out Saturday morning. The rates I got through
Hotels.com are $210 for Thursday night and $229 for Friday night. There are
still a few rooms available at this hotel, so if you move quickly (as in
right away on Wednesday morning), you should be able to get a room for
Friday night. The hotel is centrally located right in the heart of Coconut
Grove's dining and shopping district and is only about 4 blocks from Miami
City Hall, a walk of about 10 minutes. There are two 50A 208-240V charging
outlets at Miami City Hall, so that makes it very convenient to be able to
put your EV on charge and then walk back to your hotel to catch a snooze or
meal or do email.

Here is the hotel's address and phone number:

Mayfair Hotel & Spa
3000 Florida Ave.
Coconut Grove, FL 33133
hotel telephone: 305-441-0000

There was only one other hotel that I called in Coconut Grove which has
availability for Thursday and Friday nights. That is:

The Mutiny Hotel
2951 South Bayshore Drive
Coconut Grove, FL 33133
hotel telephone: 305-441-2100

The rate they quoted me over the phone is $329/night. This hotel is also
located right in the heart of Coconut Grove's dining and shopping district.
It is similarly about 4 blocks and a 10-minute walk from Miami City Hall.

Another hotel I called (late in the evening, around 9pm), the Grand Bay
Miami, told me that they (at the front desk/reception) are not able to check
on room availability and that I would have to call their Reservation Dept.,
which is only open during the hours of 9am-5pm. So you could also try them
tomorrow between 9am and 5pm. Here's the address and phone:

Grand Bay Miami
2669 South Bayshore Drive
Coconut Grove, FL 33133
hotel telephone number: 305-858-9600

The Grand Bay Miami is actually the closest hotel to Miami City Hall, just a
block away, about a 3 minute walk.

The only hotel that I didn't call that is within any sort of reasonable
walking distance is the following one, which you might want to try (I have
no idea about room availability and wouldn't be surprised if they're fully
booked Friday night, like most other hotels in Coconut Grove):

CocoStyle Residences
3250 Grand Ave.
Coconut Grove, FL 33133
hotel telephone number: 305-448-8418

CocoStyle Residences is a little bit further away from Miami City Hall,
about 7 and a half blocks, so looks like it would probably be about a 20
minute walk or so. If anyone stays there, I'd be happy to provide shuttle
service in my RAV if you want to leave your car on charge and go back there
to the hotel while your car is charging.

OK, that's it for hotels.

Finally, FLEAA member Allan Miller lives only about 3 miles northeast of
Miami City Hall (and is himself going to be coming to the Friday evening and
Saturday events with his electric VW Cabriolet). This morning Allan told me
that he has got a spare bedroom in his house which he would be glad to make
available for one of our members to stay there at his place Friday night.
He said that he just needs to first confirm that his in-laws are still
planning to leave on schedule. So you might want to check Allan on that.
By the way, Allan also has a 50A 240V outlet in his garage that he is making
available to us as one of the charging sites for this weekend. I will be
providing more details on that in another email, dedicated specifically to
charging sites for this event.

Here is Allan's address and contact info:
